RESONANZ is a unique installation with music, art, and animation in augmented reality (AR) and represents a place of encounter and interactive experience.
In the middle of the urban hustle and bustle of Stuttgart, Ludwigsburg, Strasbourg and Saarbrücken, an island of experience with multiple senses and playful discovery was created: on a 140 square meter floor graphic - a work by the New York artist Marc Fornes / THEVERYMANY, born in Strasbourg – you could connect to the work of art using a free app.
Floor graphics on the Schlossplatz in Stuttgart
Each of the seven markers of the floorgraphic corresponded to one of the seven string parts. By scanning a marker, visitors heard one of the seven string parts of the music piece SHAKER LOOPS by John Adams on their smartphone. If there were seven people on the floor, the visitors “made music” together and heard the music in full. Each visitor “played” an instrument and together they all formed a small orchestra.
Each time, the participants were able to choose another of the seven string parts of the music piece SHAKER LOOPS, for example cello, double bass or second violin - depending on which of the seven markers on the floor they scanned. Outside of that, SHAKER LOOPS could be heard in its entirety. At the same time, visitors saw a different animation for each string part on their mobile display. These animations played together, like the musicians. This served to convey musical education in a playful way. The music, the AR and the floor graphics were transformed into a digital artwork.
